Over the years of camping and hiking you build up a number of camping recipes. W'eve put together a number of dessert recipes we enjoyed over the years to share with our fellow campers. These recipes are great to share and eat around the camp fire at night.
Dutch Oven Sugar Cookies ½ cup softened butter ½ tsp. salt 1 cup sugar 2 tsp. Baking powder 1 egg 2 cups flour ½ tsp. Vanilla extract
Combine Butter and sugar. Mix well. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Drop on a greased aluminum pan. Take place on a baking sheet upside-down cake from burning. Bake for 6 to 7 min. slow cooker should be around 400 degrees.
Dutch Oven Chocolate Chip Cookies 2 1 / 2 cups flour 1 tsp. 1 teaspoon baking powder. Salt 1 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 3 / 4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. Vanilla 2 eggs 1 bag chocolate chips semi-sweet
Mix the flour, baking soda andsalt. Cream shortening, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla . Add eggs. Mix until fluffy. Add the flour mixture a little at a time. Stir in the chocolate chips. Line the bottom of your Dutch oven with foil. Press cookie dough into the bottom firmly . Place coals on both the top and bottom of the oven . Bake about 30 minutes. Lift the cookie out using the foil lining. Cool and cut into pieces.
Fruit Cobbler 1 pkg. yellow cake mix 1 large can fruit cocktail Cinnamon Butter
Pour fruit cocktail in bottom of your Dutch oven. Without stirring, spread the cake mix over the fruit cocktail. Sprinkle with cinnamon to taste, and some bits of butter. Again, do not stir. Cover the cobbler and bake until the top is lightly browned. About 30-40 min. You can use any canned fruit or canned pie filling for variety. If you use pie filling, use 2 cans.
S'Mores 1 chocolate bar of your choice or chocolate wafers 2 or more marshmallows 2 graham crackers
Toast your marshmallows over fore or coals. Break off a piece of chocolate bar or a couple of chocolate wafers on top of graham cracker. Now sandwich the marshmallows between the chocolate bar or wafers and graham crackers.
